We love custom orders, I thrive bringing customers ideas to life that then go on to be part of a celebration or decorate homes. Once in a while we get a request that just blows us away and is challenging and exciting all at once.
A request from Ruth at Made in Snetty gave us all of the above when she asked us to make her lovely business a wooden sign that can be used at Craft Fairs and the like. Wooden signs are brilliant for designer/maker or craft businesses’, it gives the opportunity to reinforce your brand but retain the handmade essence of your products.
Ruth makes gorgeous jewellery and name frames with a gorgeous vintage shabby chic feel that we love here at The Ivy Cottage, when I saw the lovely logo for Made in Snetty I thought it was just stunning.
Anyway enough gushing, and on to the little sign. Preparation was the key to this sign as it needed to be broken down into a number of parts to get the right look.
I started by prepping the wood, and getting the base paints of white and blue just right, before I sat down with the task of laying out the shabby chic bouquets in the background, the beautiful flowing script, delicate floral arrangements and butterflies that make up this gorgeous logo.
All finished and ready to go off to its new home, my only worry during the whole process was drilling the holes for the ribbon. I was convinced it would split the wood and I would be starting all over again.
